One of the most memorable day trip in Queensland.
We had a chance to see turtle and sea pig!? if i remembered correctly what they're called. Enjoy the beautiful view of the sea and the island.
The snorkelling experience was a bomb, in a good way. Even for a first timer there was no issue at all. The tour company we were with was really helpful. An advice though if you dont like sharing equipment you can bring your own.
The current is extremely strong and it's recommended to use TWO gloves instead of just 1 like my tour guide suggest.
After the snorkelling/diving you will be very hungry so better prepare some brunch if you dont like the food on the boat. Prepare some med for nauseating if you're not used to travel by boat either.
You can get here on your 4wd by taking the ferry, be mindful of the schedule.

We stayed on the island for 5 nights. During our time on the island we had alot of rainy days so we got to see most of the island.
You could really see/do most of the island in 2-3 days, depending on what kind of activities you enjoy doing.
We camped for 3 nights and then stayed at the resort for 2.
We caught the micat over and all up to get tickets for that and the driving permit for the island we paid around $250. It is dependent on the length of your vehicle. Camping sites are around $6 per adult per night.
Some sites have toilet and showers and others have nothing, so it all depends on whether you need these amenities.
Overall we had a good stay but I would say it's a one off visit for us.

Such a beautiful island! Beautiful beaches and absolutely stunning water and wildlife. Went snorkelling round the wrecks and saw such a diverse range of fish, turtles and dolphins. We were also very lucky to see the rare Sea cows, Dugong.

Such a beautiful island and hands down one of the best places in Australia for whale watching. We saw so many whales and all possible behaviours they could display. It’s quite a large island so we a day trip definitely wasn’t enough. Lots of hidden gems! Would recommend highly!

Our family go to place, safe for the kids to swim and play. Not much to do on the island but RELAX. The sunset on the western side of the island is a beautiful. We stayed @ bulwer

Got a 4x4? A must do trip for a weekend or even better a week, and well worth the cost of getting there on the barge
